CUPE 1479 represents permanent and causal non teaching employees who work for the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, as well as employees of Triboard Transportation.
Our workers are made up of a variety of job classifications, including Information Technology, Youth Workers, Educational Assistants, Secretary/Clerical, Route Planners, Designated Early Childhood Educator, Certified Trades, Custodial, Adult Education Instructors, and Yard Supervisors performing a range of work that keeps our schools running.
We all make up our union. We elect representatives to be on the Executive Board, Stewards, Health and Safety committees and Bargaining Teams. Our goal is to represent the workers views to the very best of our abilities and to advocate on your behalf. In addition, we advocate for the safe and respectful work environment.
Being a keeping member entitles you to voting rights during all union elections, the right to participate in union activities, surveys, functions and to union benefits. I urge you to attend the next union meeting and become an active member.
Together, we are the union, and together we are the power of public education!
