Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We certainly hope that this year will bring both staff and students a more stable and consistent school year. Everyone did an an exceptional job going above and beyond to support each other and the students we service. You certainly make us all proud to be a CUPE 1479 member.
Please remember to do your attestation and offence declarations. If you are off for 5 days or longer you will require the CUPE medical certificate to be filled out, which is located in the collective agreement. You are always encouraged to contact a member of the executive if you are on a long term sick leave or have had a WSIB missed time claim. We are here to help guide you through the processes and make sure that you have been returned safely to work and have the tools and supports you need in place. If you have a return to work meeting you should always have a member of the Executive with you.
We love that each school has a representative on site to distribute information, but if you require a meeting with your supervisor or Human Resources you really need to have a trained member of the Executive there with you. We are also here to answer and questions and find concerns.
The OSBCU has also resurrected the Education Worker Wednesday campaign! Please wear your CUPE shirts or just take pictures of hard working CUPE members and send a brief summary of what you do to support students success and safety on a daily basis. We will upload them to the CUPE 1479 Twitter and Facebook pages and forward them to the OSBCU to post on the Facebook page as well.
We wish everyone an amazing, happy and healthy school year! Keep safe!
